Here we have an original Escort RS1600 for sale. The car was first used by Ford motor company before being sold into private hands, The car was bought by the previous local owner back in 1984. Due to a suspected cylinder head gasket problem the car was taken off the road late 80`s while the engine was being repaired and was never used again.
Montescort purchased the car in 2015 and started a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration. the body shell was stripped repaired then repainted to its original Daytona yellow to a high standard.
As the car was unmolested and still wearing its original upgrades, i.e, original magnesium 6J Minilites, Wedged bilstien suspension and LSD, all mechanical parts have been restored to original specification.
The engine was sent to race engine builder Paul Fisher ( BRM fame), to inspect before being rebuilt. It was decided rather than use its original Iron block we would have the engine built using an AX block allowing it an increase in capacity to 1760cc.
The engine has been totally rebuilt with BD3 camshafts original weber carbs and airbox to an estimated 170bhp.
The car interior has benefited from a new original specification roof lining being fitted, original glass retained where possible.
the Original Contour seats have been re- trimmed in black beta cloth material.
